Can’t Wait Card

The Can’t Wait Card is issued to Crohn’s & Colitis Australia members who have a formal diagnosis of Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, in order to help them gain access to a toilet in times of urgency.

What is the Can’t Wait Card?

The card displays the diagnosed person’s name and CCA member number, and identifies that person as someone who requires urgent access to a toilet due to a medical condition.

The condition means that the need for access to a toilet is sometimes extremely urgent and not being able to access one can result in physical pain and embarrassment. Our research shows that this is a very occasional need but when it is required it is urgent and very valuable to the wellbeing of individuals with Crohn’s or colitis.

The Can’t Wait Card is available to all CCA members formally diagnosed with Crohn’s or colitis.

We encourage anyone diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or colitis to become a member of CCA to access the many services and benefits of membership. After joining as a member you will be issued your Can’t Wait Card.

CCA has secured support from various businesses around Australia, and we will continue to approach supermarket chains, service stations chains, retailers and cafes for their support. We encourage members to present this card and ask that it be recognised.

National Public Toilet Map

The National Public Toilet Map shows the location of more than 16,000 public and private public toilet facilities across Australia.

The Toilet Map is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing as part of the National Continence Program.

Become an Affiliate

Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA) invites retailers, business owners and venue operators to show their support for people with the medical condition Crohn’s and colitis, collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), by displaying a window sticker recognising the Can’t Wait Card in their store.

By recognising the card, retailers, businesses and venue operators allow people IBD access to their toilets when needed.

This community service will assist with raising awareness and empathy for all people living with IBD. We are inviting retailers, venue operators and businesses to support the Can’t Wait program by recognising our Can’t Wait Card in their venue, and enable our members to undertake normal day-to-day activities with confidence.
